TripRider - Travel Planner App Reviews

Eccellente but....

Its really a great travel diary APP. 2 suggestions, would be great if it could be possible to add documents with Word other than pdf files, and the possibility in "diary" the option of setting other than day 1, 2 ecc. by date only. For example instead of Day 1 setting it on the date, example: May 1. All the rest is super! Great Job!

Love it!

Its a great app to store all you need for your trip, and to note down whatever you want to remember (especially the expenses!) but theres no way to modify the the basic settings of a trip you planned if you change your mind, thats why I dont give a 5 star rating!

Useful

This app is proving to be very useful and beautiful to look at, although a bit too expensive. Two enhancements would make it even better: the ability to add/change categories in the packing list and the ability to sync trips between iOs devices. Overall a good app.

Great app for advance planning

The real gem in this app is the Trip Plan module, which lets you plan day by day where youll go, what youll see and do, and what transportation connections you need to make. The interface is very clever and shifting dates and destinations is simple and easy to do, just like rearranging tasks on a to-do list. Thats a huge benefit over a standard calendar app when youre still trying to figure out possible itineraries, but dont know the exact dates. The app also has other modules, like a packing list and diary. Frankly, there are other apps out there that do a better job with those things. But that Travel Plan module is the best Ive seen anywhere for planning the nitty-gritty of a trip and trying out different scenarios before you hit the road. I hope the developers will keep tweaking and making the app better, but its already quite useful - particularly in planning a long trip.

Great trip journal review from a seasoned traveler

I am planning several vacations and have an iPad mini that I want to use to capture my trip In a journal. I have tried several of the journaling apps and found them to be confusing and needlessly complicated. I wanted an app that is intuitive with the ability to seamlessly capture my experience in words and pictures. I dont need a bloated app that can provide 100s of fonts or fancy borders for my pictures. I want an app that a real traveler can use on the go, easy and fun at the same time. I have found the perfect journaling app in Trip Rider. From the first moment that I opened TR it looked polished and easy to understand. I really did not have to read the help menu to get started I just started to open the different area of the app and it came alive, I almost jumped out of my chair, finally an app that gets it. From the first moment I started to populate the pre-vacation fields it became so easy the essence of my vacation unfolded in front if me, the more I used TR the more I wanted to use it. I could feel the excitement of my vacation building. As I started to use TR I noticed a few areas that gave me ideas for the app that could have used a tweak for my type of travel. I sent a feedback Msg and within a very short time I received a reply and confirmation that in fact my idea would be incorporated in the next update by the end of the month. I have now used every aspect of the app and found it to be the very best for journaling in the App Store. My vacations are backpacking, cruising, motorcycle rides and weekend getaways.

A superb planner

I was looking for an app that would help us plan a complicated trip and this one worked the best. You can enter all your details, no matter how vague, and then refine them later. Most of the other planners I tried made you enter plane flights before you could map out the itinerary. With this app, we could scribble in plans, then work out the details later. And this app can contain a lot of details--photos, notes, dates, packing list, maps, credit cards, tickets, and currency. In the end, you can print out a pdf of the entire trip. Im not sure I want to do that, but its nice to have the option. And the app also presents excellent summaries of each day, which we will find very useful. If I have any quibbles, its mostly little things. For example, it would be nice to have the app go find currency values rather than having to type them in. And a basic packing list would be nice, too. On my wish list is an integrated browser that lets me snip out pages, so I can save hotel and sightseeing information in a clip-book for later reference. In any case, we found this app to be exactly what we wanted for trip planning. And so far, no bugs.

Better than any other I found but see room for improvement

Downloaded lite first before shelling out $5. Played with it for 1+hrs by starting planning for a multi-destination 3 wk vacation. Spent another 1.5hrs in the App Store and Google looking for and testing others apps. I wanted an app that I could plan daily agendas with, enter must see places/to-dos and organize multiple destinations, travel times to/from, travel routes and travelers. Decided to go with this app as it seemed to offer the most features I was looking for and figured the full version would be even better...even if the price is steep! Could not find how to simply upgrade Lite to full version. Ended up having to download the full version... Now I have both versions on my iPad and see no way to transfer the info I spent an hour entering into Lite into the full version. Annoying! First suggestion is make your product easier to upgrade! Over all I havent used it a lot and as I said found it offered more than most others out there as far as my needs go but could be made better by adding a directions feature between destinations as it seems I need to still use google maps or other and somehow take a picture of the screen and upload the photo. Great to have access to these when offline but seems ridiculously complicated unless Im missing something. Also a budget planner would be helpful. I see where I can enter a budget figure then expenses that count against that, but, I still need to use another app or Excel on my PC to figure out that initial budget figure. Also while the icon interface within a trip is pretty to look at I find it cumbersome to quickly navigate compared to simple cleanly arranged icons that are the beauty of most Apple apps. I do plan to use it for my vacation and am sure it will be fine...once i spend another hour re-entering my data already in the Lite version. With a few more features (which it should have for its $5 price tag) I can see it could be truly fantastic.

Love it! But...

This is exactly what I was looking for! Five stars if it synced between devices. Id like to see the trip layout on my iphone as well as ipad.

TripRider is a Robust App

Overall a robust trip planning app. I spent over an hour in the App Store looking for something I liked, and this looked better than the others. Its nice to see the lite version so you can try before yOu buy. I agree with the previous reviews, I put in some data in the lite version to see if It had what I was looking for, and decided to buy the full version. Instead of updating the existing app, the full version downloads a new package (200+ mb), and any data you had in the lite version doesnt transfer to the paid version. I didnt see any difference in these two versions except the restrictions in the lite version, it would be nice to either upgrade the lite version, or have a transfer option to move data between apps. I would rate 5 Stars with the addition of data transfer/sync ability, and I would also like to add more photos. The daily diary only allows three photos. That should be unlimited. Doesnt everyone take photos nowadays with the built in camera? Three isnt going to cut it ;-}} Adding another category similar to travelers for event/sights where users could document an event/location visited with optional photos (unlimited) would complete an already robust set of tools. But for planning a trip or vacation, this has everything you should need. Just remember not to forget your iPad when leaving ;-))

Great Travel app

I am really liking this app. I am planning to attend 2 motorcycle rallies this year and have started planning with this app. My first will be in 3 weeks, so Ill try to post again after Ive used the app from end-to-end. Im glad they recently added capability to customize the packing list. Since I will be camping, that really helps. A word about budgets, estimated costs and expenses. This was the biggest thing for me to learn about Trip Rider. The "budget" is a single figure you enter for the trip as a whole. Then, as you do your trip plan, youll indicate "events" for which you enter "estimated costs." These are categorized by event types specified by the developers in the trip plan section. Then, as your trip proceeds, you keep track of expenses using expense categories, also specified by the developer. I also did a detailed budget by expense categories, saved it as a PDF and imported it to the wallet area. (But Im kinda detail-oriented about accounting stuff.) I had an email exchange with the developer about my accounting issues and was very satisfied with the responsiveness. If you have issues or features youd like to see, just let them know. Since most of my travels now are "road trips" and not air or cruise, Im looking forward to seeing how the tracking feature does. So far I am quite impressed with Trip Rider.

Awesome App for anyone who travels.

I have been developing a PowerPoint for months for out upcoming to Europe to we could plan every detail. I wish I knew about this sooner, I could have saved myself 20 hours. If your trip is small or large, this is the app to have. Dont let the wide range of features scare you off. You can use just a little party or everything. I paid $20 investigation every App I could find, and nothing has come close to this one. Buy it. You will love it.

Super great but...

This is such a wonderful app for me because Im so anal about organizing trips and making sure I have everything I need. Perhaps this is too knit picky, but I would love to be able to cross list items in one category of my packing list to another category. Maybe even some sort of way of distinguishing liquid/gels that are going to be in my hand luggage. Overall, great app and Im so happy that I purchased the full version.

Lacks

Does not have the ability to sync between devices. Needs ability to enter complete air travel details. Other parts of app are great.

Beautiful interface

After trying out the lite version, I upgraded and so far, its exactly what I was looking for for recording details about my family trip.

Needs Work

This could be a really great app, but its so awkward to use. For example, in settings, it has a Facebook option - but you can only log out from there. You have to go somewhere else to login. Wouldnt it make more sense to have your login and logout on the same page???? Theres enough weird things like that to make it really awkward and annoying. Its not intuitive and in some places forces you to enter information that didnt even seem necessary. It doesnt appear to sync to other devices which is a huge disappointment. This app has potential to be really great, but they still have a lot of refining and bugs to work out. I mainly bought it because of the capability to make a PDF of my entire trip which is a really cool feature.

I am in love with TripRider

I love, love, love this app. As an independent traveler...TripRider is making my trip planning fun and easy. Their customer service is excellent. I had a couple of questions and they got right back to me. Way to go TripRider!!!!!

Good App could be better

Cannot make a route or get directions on the maps, other than that its a great app.

Great but needs a few tweaks

This app is beautiful and has everything Im looking to plan a trip next year except you should be able to sync to other iOS devices and share with your fellow travelers (with edit capabilities). 5 stars with those changes

Doesnt transfer info between devices...

I paid for this app and have it downloaded on my IPhone and IPad, however, my trip info is not transferring from one device to the other. Is it supposed to? If not, that is quite a bit inconvenient. I should be able to set everything up on one device and be able to view it on the other...especially considering how pricey the app is. Otherwise, it meets my needs so far.

Fan freaking tastic!

This app is slick. Sooo stoked i found it
